Souvenir-

It always had to be white, no matter where in the country she was, what
situation Mulder had dragged her into, it was always a white shirt that
caught the brunt of blood. Splatter, bullet hole, you name it; she had
been on the receiving end of it. Brandishing the nailbrush Scully’s
fingers flecked with light pink tinged foam, exasperatedly she swiped an
errant strand of hair back with her wrist. The stain was slowly becoming a
shadow of itself, boarders now a blurred like a tidemark.

All the effort to defy the world and save another over-priced shirt, that
and the sensibilities of her dry cleaner. She added more stain remover to
the spot and pushed into the fabric with renewed vigour. Stroke for stroke
her anger forced the remainder of blood not only from her clothes, but her
soul. This wasn’t going to beat her, Dana Katherine Scully MD, Special
Agent and survivor.
