It wasn't fair to ask him like this, while they lay spent and rubbery, and the
sunlight coming through the blinds fell in stripes on his long bare legs.

But there was no choice. She could only talk about this here, in this private and
safe place. 

While she ran nervous fingers up and down his forearm she talked about the possible
second chance. She talked about the new clinical advances. She talked about how they
could change their lives.

To his credit, he did not agree right away. "Is it such a good idea?" he whispered.
"So much we don't know. We don't know what kind of a world we would bring a child
into."

She wanted to say, I don't care. Instead she said, "I don't know either."

He kissed the top of her head. "Let me think about this, Scully," he said, his eyes
bright. And that was really all she wanted.
